Tysons is about 15 miles from the airport along the Dulles Access Highway, and the ride takes 25 to 35 minutes in normal traffic. Reston is closer, about 10 miles, usually 15 to 20 minutes. Drivers leave the airport on the Dulles Airport Access Highway, which runs inside the Dulles Toll Road and is reserved for airport traffic. That road is the reason the trip stays predictable: it bypasses local traffic until the Route 7 and Route 123 exits at Tysons. For Reston, drivers exit earlier at Reston Parkway or Wiehle Avenue. Eastbound traffic on the Access Highway is heaviest on weekday mornings, and that is when a 25-minute ride can become 45. We factor that into your pickup time when you give us a meeting time.
All passengers, domestic and international, exit into the Main Terminal baggage claim level. International arrivals clear customs first, which adds 30 to 60 minutes after landing.
